Tru-Cool 40K Installation Kit designed specifically for the 1988-1998 GMT400 C/K trucks. 

Compatibility

  • 4L80E/4L70E kit is for 97+ model year with extended return (rear) port fitting
  • 4l80E/4L70E prior to 1997 use 1/4 NPSM fittings
  • 4L60E, 4L65E, 700R4, TH350, TH400 all use 1/4 NPSM fittings

Revisions

As of 11/1/25, ALL kits will now include 4 additional AN swivel fittings (2 90 degree and 2 straight). Previously, kits included 2 additional fittings specific to the kit ordered.

    Designed specifically for the 1988-1998 GMT400, this kit is exactly what you need if you're looking to upgrade your transmission cooler. To complement our patent-pending Notched Hood Latch Bracket, you will also recieve a high quality 40K transmission cooler and all of the fittings and hoses to work for your application.

  • 40K Transmission Cooler

    Dana-Spicer, the OEM for the Tru-Cool Thermal Products transmission coolers, is no longer offering the Tru-Cool 40K. They were abruptly discontinued in 2025 without notice to their suppliers.

    We worked directly with Capital Core Transmissions, one of the registered Dana-Spicer & Tru-Cool Thermal Products distributors, who provided this cooler as the direct aftermarket replacement for the OEM Tru-Cool 40K. This cooler is of equivalent quality and rating as the OEM Tru-Cool 40K. Capital Core Transmissions is offering this as the replacement for Tru-Cool LPD47391.

    These come directly from our supplier, Capital Core Transmissions, out of Columbus, Ohio.

  • Specifications

    • (2) 5/8x18 Inverted flare to -6AN fittings (Zinc coated steel) - These are for the cooler
    • (2) Transmission Fittings to -6AN, includes supply and return fittings (4L80e & 1/4 NPSM - anodized steel, all others - billet aluminum)
    • (3) 6AN Hose Separator Clamps
    • (2) 10ft -6AN nylon braided lines

    ALL KITS WILL INCLUDE (2) EXTRA FITTINGS THAT WILL NOT BE USED - depends on application

    • (2) 90 degree -6AN swivel ends
    • (2) straight -6AN swivel ends

    We include 2 of each style fitting so that you can determine which swivel fitting will work best for your application.

    -4L80E kits work best with (2) 90 degree swivel fittings at the transmission end

    -All other kits work best with (2) straight swivel fittings at transmission end


    Note: This kit is designed mostly for aftermarket engine and transmission setups. The lines will come cut 10' in length with only one fitting end installed. This is so you can cut and route the lines to your specified lengths and requirements.

  • Warranty

    We do not offer a warranty on the transmission cooler. This is not our product, and there are far too many variables due to the nature of transmission coolers. If your cooler has failed within 6 months of delivery, please reach out and we can offer an at-cost replacement. We may ask for a return on your damaged or leaking cooler.

    Line Kits are covered under 1 Year Warranty.
